Pilot Licence Exam – DGCA? – Complete Guide

All the candidates who are applying for Pilots License Examination must follow the steps given below in order to obtain their DGCA Computer Number. Candidates are advised to file their application for the allotment of Computer Number and subsequently for Roll Number under the website http://udaan.nic.in

The instructions to be followed for filling the application ONLINE and the various requirements to be fulfilled by the applicant while applying for Computer Number and Roll Number are given as follows:

STEP 1: Registration at udaan.nic.in (only required one time)

  1. Visit the website http://udaan.nic.in
  2. Candidate must have an individual Email ID as all the important information like Computer Number, Roll Number, Application Status and Examination Schedules will be communicated to the candidate through this email ID.
  3. No two candidates can share the same email id while applying ONLINE.
  4. In order to obtain the login details, candidates have to use their ‘Old Pilot Candidate Registration’. All those candidates who already have a Computer Number can use this option.   5. Old Pilot Candidate Registration Form looks like the one given below. The candidate is required to fill up his Computer Number and Date of Birth to proceed.How to get DGCA Computer Number?
  6. When the entered data matches the existing DGCA data, then the candidate will see the following screen.How to get DGCA Computer Number?
  7. Now the candidate has to fill in the mandatory details that are important for the registration process. The details that are already present with DGCA will be displayed on the screen.
  8. In case the qualification field is indicated as “NOT KNOWN”, then the applicant will not be able to apply for Roll Number until he / she furnishes the necessary documentary evidence in support of his / her qualification to the CEO and subsequent acceptance by the CEO. In this regard the applicants are advised to submit the scanned images of the qualification (10th and / or 10+2 / equivalent or having fulfilled the provisions given under Rule 47A of the Aircraft Rules 1937 as applicable) to the CEO at ceo.dgca@nic.in immediately and subsequently to forward an attested copy of the same by speed post to the Director of Airworthiness, Central Examination Organisation, O/o Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, East Block – III, R K Puram, New Delhi – 110 066, so as to facilitate CEO for updation of database. On acceptance of the qualification details by the CEO, CEO data will be updated and the candidate will be intimated via e-mail. Such candidates will have to proceed from step 4 onwards.
  9. The Login details generated will be sent to the candidate’s email id. The Login ID will be the candidates Computer No. ONLY.
  10. The candidate can fill the online examination form only after successful registration.

STEP 2: Procedure for applying for DGCA Pilot Exams

  1. The examination form for a session is available to the candidate after the examination Schedule along with Centers and Venues list is made visible. The candidates can fill their examination form by logging in to the system with his login details under the link – “Candidate Login”. How to get DGCA Computer Number?
  2. After logging in the candidate can apply for online exam or OMR exam as decided by DGCA.
  3. The application forms for Online and OMR based exams are different as can be seen in the link – “Pilot – Online Application for allotment of Roll Number”.
  4. After filling the details, the fees to be submitted is automatically calculated and shown to the candidate.
  5. The candidate has two options for submitting the fees, either by using the candidate’s internet banking account or by using a Demand Draft.
  6. The fee once submitted for one session will not be adjusted for the later sessions by UDAAN system.
  7. For all the successfull submitted applications, a Temp ID will be generated and it will be displayed on the screen along with further instructions. The same information will also be sent to the candidate’s registered email id as well.
  8. The Signed print out of the filled application form, along with required documents should reach the Director of Airworthiness, Central Examination Organisation, O/o Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, East Block – III, R K Puram, New Delhi – 110 066 by speed / registered post within 10 days of online submission of application.
  9. If the candidate is not able to take the printout of the filled examination form at the time of form submission, then he/she can take the print out later, by using the link – “Track Status of your exam Application” and thereafter “Query Your Application Status”, under the “Examination” tab and under the option – “Print Examination Form”, using the generated TEMP. ID, after logging into his account.
  10. The candidate can also check the status of the application by logging in to UDAAN and using the link – “Track Status of your exam Application” and thereafter “Query Your Application Status” under the “Examination” tab.How to get DGCA Computer Number?
  11. The CEO will process the application and approval status along with Roll No., Exam Schedule and allotted Centre / Venue details will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID.

STEP 3: The instructions for submission of hard copy of application after submitting the application ONLINE

The documents required to be submitted by the applicant for obtaining Computer No.(Pilots) are given as follows:

1. Printout of the submitted ONLINE application duly completed in all respect.

2. Date of birth proof: (10th Std. Certificate / Mark List, Matriculation certificate, any other documents reflecting the Birth date and issued by the Govt. authority). The name will be accepted as mentioned in 10th / Matriculation certificate. In case of change / different Name, the applicant is required to submit appropriate document in support of the same issued by the competent authority.

3. Educational Qualification

  • 10th Std. Certificate / Mark List, Matriculation certificate or equivalent from recognized board / university for PPL
  • 10+2 Certificate / Mark List for having passed with Mathematics & Physics or equivalent from recognized board/ university in case of CPL / ATPL / Conversion of foreign License or Evidence for having fulfilled the provisions given under Rule 47A of the Aircraft Rules 1937.
  • Equivalency certificate from the AIU (Association of Indian Universities, 16, Kotla Marg, New Delhi – 110 002) in case basic qualification has been obtained from Foreign Country.

4. Copy of Passport in case of foreign national.

All the above documents must be attested by the Gazetted Officers only. Hard copy of the application along with its enclosures must reach CEO within 10 days of submission of online application.

Additional documents required to be submitted by the candidate for obtaining Roll No. (Pilots) are given as follows:

1. PPL / CPL

  • Printout of the submitted ONLINE application duly completed in all respect.

2. ATPL

  • Printout of the submitted ONLINE application duly completed in all respect.
  • Proof of having Indian CPL with Multi Engine endorsement, or evidence for having completed 500Hrs flying experience of which 200 Hrs. should be as Pilot-in Command in the case of Defense Personnel.

3. Conversion of Pilots License (CPL/ATPL) issued by Foreign Authority

  • Printout of the submitted ONLINE application duly completed in all respect .
  • Copy of Foreign Flight Crew License issued by ICAO Contracting State for the respective category.

4. Issue / Extension with respect to technical – specific / performance papers

  • Printout of the submitted ONLINE application duly completed in all respect.
  • Copy of the Current Flight Crew License.
  • Certificate for having successfully completed the ground training classes on technical / performance on the type aircraft from the DGCA approved training institute, in case of desired type aircraft is more than 5700Kgs. MTOW / twin engine Helicopters.

All the above documents must be attested by the Gazetted Officers only. Hard copy of the application along with its enclosures must reach the CEO within 10 days of submission of online application.

Mode of acceptance of fees-
1. Net banking – attach a copy of the transaction detail
2. By Demand Draft – The DD is
a. Rs.500/- per paper
b. Drawn from Scheduled bank in India.
c. Drawn in favor of “PAO, DGCA, MCA, New Delhi”
d. Payable at New Delhi
e. Valid for 6 months from the date of issue of Demand Draft
f. Drawn in less than 30 days from the date of online submission
g. To indicate the Name, Computer No. & Session on the back side of the Demand Draft

Incomplete application or the application with insufficient evidences and inappropriate details or with wrong draft shall be merely rejected and no further communication in this regard shall be entertained.

So be very cautious while applying for the DGCA Computer Number & Roll Number and go through these instructions carefully.
